Thumbs Up Stuff Things I Give a Thumbs Up Home Stories Do you remember that story about the mouse that scared a lion? Obviously I don’t remember the full thing. Wait, let me search it. Okay, this is what I found. It’s nice that the lion let the mouse go. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to be the mouse in that situation. Scared for your live and feeling completely helpless. On one had it’s convenient that the mouse was able, in the end, to be in the reverse situation. Could you imagine if the story ended before he kept his promise? It’s easy to commend the lion for giving up his snack to let the mouse live. Do we give as much credit to the mouse for giving up his future safety to return the favor to the lion? It’s amazing that such a short story can create so many thoughts. It’s amazing that a story about a lion and a mouse can actually be about our lives. Would we do the same as the mouse? Have we acted the same as the lion or did eat eat the snack? July 21, 2022 Morning Coffee All alarms are doomed to be hated. When I choose a pleasant sound, after about a week of having it wake me up, the sweet sounds become shrill. When I choose a unpleasant sound, knowing any sound is doomed, the first time it wakes me up I hate it. I’m not trying to say my alarm sound puts me in a bad mood, but it doesn’t help. An alarm is like a starter gun for grumpiness. Just like a starter gun, an alarm starts a race. The race isn’t against anyone. The race is to the coffee pot. The coffee pot has an alarm too. A fifteen minutes before mine. I’m not sure if the coffee pot feels the same way about it’s alarm as I do about mine. All I know is when we’re both awake and I reach for the pot’s handle, that’s the finish line for my grumpy race.
